Standard oncologic principles are strictly maintained during minimally invasive procedures, which assures cure rates equivalent to open surgery with the additional benefit of decreased surgical trauma to the body.

Less pain

There is less pain associated with the small incisions of minimally invasive surgery as compared to open surgery, resulting in less postoperative analgesic requirement.

Decreased bleeding

Minimally invasive surgery is associated with decreased intraoperative bleeding in comparison to open surgery. This translates into a decreased probability of requiring blood products, thus further minimizing the small risks associated with transfusion such as transmission of viral infections (HIV, Hepatitis C)

Shorter hospital stay

The overall benefit of decreased blood, loss, decreased pain and less surgical trauma during minimally invasive surgery results in a shorter stay in comparison with conventional open surgery.

Return to full activity sooner

The advantage of minimally invasive surgery is not only the decreased hospital stay but the shorter convalescence and faster recovery after being discharged from the hospital. This allows for an earlier return to a normal preoperative level of physical activity for a patient following a minimally invasive surgical procedure in comparison to open surgery.
