Clinical
Urology at the University of Cincinnati is committed to the advancement of medical knowledge for the sake of improvement in evaluation of urologic conditions, diagnosis including screening for urologic diseases (cancer, stones), imaging of urogenital organs (ultrasound, magnetic resonance, computer assisted tomography), and new treatments (urogenital cancers, stone prevention, benign prostate conditions). To that end, we sponsor clinical trials as well as participate with our colleagues in allied medical specialties including Medical Oncology, Radiation Therapy, Diagnostic Radiology, and Environmental Medicine. Clinical trials are funded by national research groups such as ECOG (Eastern Cooperative Oncology Group), and by industry or pharmaceutical corporations. We have provided a list of ongoing clinical trials which are open to patients who meet established criteria (primarily absence of conflicting medical history or medication). All research protocols active within the University of Cincinnati have met stringent guidelines and review by the IRB (Internal Review Board) for the protection of patients who elect to participate.
