Assistant Professor of Clinical Surgery, Division of Urology, University of Cincinnati Department of Surgery. Co-director of the Endourology, Laparoscopy & Robotic Surgery Fellowship Program

Dr. Gaitonde specializes in:

  • Minimally invasive laparoscopic and robotic urologic surgery
  • Urologic oncology
  • Minimally invasive kidney sparing surgery for renal tumors
  • Robotic radical prostatectomy
  • Cryotherapy for kidney and prostate cancer
  • Endourology/laser procedures for complex stone disease and benign prostate enlargement.

Dr. Gaitonde sees patients at UC Physicians Medical Arts Building in Clifton, and UC Physicians at University Pointe in West Chester

Dr. Gaitonde received his M.D. degree from Goa Medical College in Goa, India. He completed his residency in General Surgery at the Kasturba Medical College followed by residency training in urology at the Hinduja Hospital in Mumbai, India. He has recieved fellowship training in minimally invasive urologic surgery at the Klinikum Heilbron in Germany, Mater Misericordiae Hospital at Brisbane in Australia, the Royal Brisbane Hospital in Australia and at the University of Cincinnati fellowship program in endouology, laparoscopy and robotic surgery.

Dr. Gaitonde is a member of the American Medical Association, Endourological Society, American Urological Society, and the Ohio Urological Society. He is a Fellow of the European Board of Urology. He serves as a reviewer for the Indian Journal of Urology and the Journal of Endourology. Dr. Gaitonde has several publications in peer-reviewed journals and has presented on the topic of minimally invasive urologic surgery at national and international meetings. His research interests include application of minimally invasive technology in treating urologic disease, and surgical simulation.
